TPE in Construction: Why Sealing Gaskets Are Moving Away from EPDM Rubber

The building and construction sector is experiencing a quiet revolution. Traditional thermoset EPDM rubber seals are being replaced by TPV and TPE compounds that offer equivalent weathering performance with the processing advantages of thermoplastics.

Window and door profile manufacturers across Europe and the Middle East are increasingly specifying thermoplastic elastomers for sealing gaskets.

**Processing Efficiency**: TPV and TPE-based gaskets can be co-extruded directly with rigid PVC window profiles, eliminating the separate seal insertion step.

**Recyclability**: Unlike crosslinked EPDM, TPV-based seals can be reprocessed at end of life.

**Dimensional Stability**: Our Elasmerit® TPV grades demonstrate low compression set and excellent UV stability — critical for 40+ year service life expectations in windows and curtain walls.
